GURGAON: Residents of South City II and Nirvana Country are having sleepless nights after repeated promises of the Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam to make the 66kV substation in Sector 47 near Sohna Road functional before August 15 fell flat.
The failure in making the substation, constructed three years ago, functional has 15,000 residents in the area's 15 blocks fretting and fuming.

At present the residents of South City II and Nirvana Country get power from Badshapur substation, which is old and overloaded.
"We have been facing frequent load sheddings, sometimes for over 10 hours, as Badshapur sub-station can barely bear the increasing load," said D R Yadav, secretary, South City II RWA.
Residents also complain that the SDE and JE of Kanhai electricity office have allowed illegal connection from the colony's load to a petrol pump on Golf Course Extn Road, besides Emaar MGF, Malibue Town Mall, Espace TF.
"Our colony remains to be affected. We have repeatedly written to the chief engineer and superintending engineer of the HVPN. We have also written to Haryana power minister Ajay Yadav and the Badshapur MLA but to no avail," said Mahavir Singh, vice president, South City II RWA.

"We had heard the contractor to whom the job for construction and installation of the sub-station was entrusted has further entrusted it to another contractor. The original contactor, however, did not make any payment to the sub-contractor which then stopped work. HVPN officials on the other hand only say that all issues have been solved?" said T K Das, another South City II resident.
Despite repeated attempts, TOI could not reach the executive engineers of the HVPN.
